PoW PoW(er)!

I have POWER!
09.28.12
What's UP pEEps?
OMG! I couldn't sleep last night 'cuz I was reading an amazing book! Do you ever lose sleep 'cuz you are learning so...so...so...so much and you are hungry for it? AND, you really don't need the sleep 'cuz you know you need the learning even more than you need the sLeeP?

zZZzzZzZZZZzzzZzzzzZzzzZzzzz.....(not...)

Wow! I learned a LoT when I was reading. SO here's what I got, and this started when I went to my meditation service yesterday morning. The speaker was saying that our planet is on a wavelength of VICTIM rather than CREATOR. And that we humans have a choice about which we can believe.

Here's what she said, " We can choose to blame, or we can choose to move on, forgive ourselves and others, and lean into our POWER."

Question: Why would we choose to be a victim when we can step into power?
.......enter my next installation of bEcoming funfreeME: I keep my power.

Which means:
I am responsible for how I interpret what happens to be; for example, asking "What can I learn?" (POWER) rather than, "OMG! I can't believe what S/HE did TO me?" (VICTIM)

Personally, I'd rather thank people for what they do FOR me--like, thanks for the lessons crazy (not) peeps?!

AND . . . the cool thing is, that according to the book that I read last night, we can actually look to the experiences in our lives where we feel victimized, and the way to move through them is to practice being grateful for them---Wow! Pow(er)!

Hope to sleep long and well tonight!

I have been mostly practicing keeping my power by speaking my truth lately. How about you? How do you keep your power?

Leave a comment and let me know!

Be yOu, yO! yOU are a brIght LigHt!

“It doesn't matter what you did or where you were...
it matters where you are and what you're doing
Get out there!
Sing the song in your heart and
NEVER let anyone shut you up!!”

Good Day fUn & fReE foLk!
Can you beLIeVE you are aLIVE and yoUr fabulous existence began as a strand of DNA?
(Pretty darn amazing . . . huh?)
So, do you live your life on purpose?
With purpose? I am doing a lot of stuff right now to figure out them meaning of my LIFE('s) highest purpose, and if I get in touch with me, I can check in to what gives me a feeling of passion and what brings me to LIFE!

When I used to live from the OUTSIDE:IN, I worried alot about what other people thought of me (made up info. on my part, btw!), I freaked out about what I looked like, and I found myself reacting to life rather than living it & loving (mySELf and oTheRs) as a powerful coCreator!

Instead of trying to be cheap imitations of oThEr people (and what I thought they wanted me to be--also made up), I beLIeVE it is my destiny (& everyOnE's) to be the most powerful and fabulous eXpReSSioN of mE I can be! That is each of our destinies!

So, are you living life small? Or, are you living LARGE and in CHARGE--bursting forward with pursuing the amazing creative aCtS that give you energy and paSSiOn? Our biggest gift is being present and engaged in life (LIVING!).

Have U every thought that the wOrLd will be a better place if U get to know yourself enough to sHaRe your gIfTs with the You-niverse?

What presence do you wish to leave as your own personal signature to our delicious and amazing existence?

Live your life as your BeSt sElF--'cuz every juicy moment and hOLy interaction is created jUsT for you to reaCh youR hIghEsT poTentIaL!

gO tO yOuR hAppY pLacE . . .

hEy aLL!

What's uP? I hope you are! Have you ever been around a bunch of people who are constantly complaining or being just plain negative about their health, their job, their family, their finances, their ________ (fill in the blank) . . . AND you noticed that you start feeling, well, depleted of energy?

BACKSTORY: I used to know a few people who constantly complained about all their aches and pains & talked about all their doctors appointments, they compared their medications, and described how horrible they felt all the time. Really, it was always something (I'm actually feeling depleted of energy just remembering it and writing about it!)

What happened was, they kind of drove away other people (me, for one!) who couldn't really stand the negativity . . . and these women were left hanging out together, and guess what they did?
SuRpRiSe
not . . .
They constantly complained about all their aches and pains & talked about all their doctors appointments, they compared their medications, and described how horrible they felt all the time!

And their health got even worse, and worse, and worse.

YIKEYS!

I guess we need to be careful about
where we give our attention, huh?

As I wrote a couple of weeks ago: Happiness is our choice and our responsibility & we choose our thoughts & our beliefs. If we focus our energy on what is wrong, we may be making the problem worse.

How about focusing on the solution? Or, what is awesome about our lives and our health? How about thanking and blessing our bodies (even the boo-boos) every day--for bringing us this far and for supporting us in experiencing an awesome life!!

RemeMbEr: ACCEPTANCE & GRATITUDE.

Surrounding ourselves with people who have what we want is kind of like playing "up" in a sport--with pEEps who are much better than us. It rubs off! I personally like to hang out with people who laugh a ton, and who appreciate life for it's challenges and blessings!

gOt (your) nUmBer?

HeY TheRe!

I suppose I'm a pretty superstitious person . . . in a go(o)d way (not like a creeper or something)! I mean, I am always looking and listening for patterns and signs in my life . . . out in nature, in daily conversations, in animals I keep seeing, in numbers, and in patterns in my relationships.

I guess I figure if something keeps repeating itself to me, the Universe is trying to get my attention . . . like, for example, when the same old problems keep coming up! . . .

It could be yucky stuff like when something keeps bugging me, when people keep treating me a certain way, or my body keeps reacting the same to something (one example is, if I have sugar, I feel kind of headachy and sick-like).

But it can also be good stuff! Like when I smile at a stranger and just feel better, or when I help someone or give them positive reinforcement, or when I just randomly laugh out loud and others join me, 'cuz IT JUST FEELS GOOD!

Anyway, my point is that I actually have a magic number--333. yAy! I see this number all the time--and I often wake up at 3:33 AM. I knew that it was going to be an amazing day when I got to 3,333 hits on this bLoG last summer; I was patiently awaiting the day for awhile! I kind of took it as a sign that I was writing some stuff that folks could relate to, and that somehow helped people . . . including me!

There's a lot of power in the number three, and you can find out more about the spiritual meaning of different numbers by looking them up. My daughter, Chloe, has the number 64, but she also sees the number 32 (half of 64) quite often. Do you have a magic number? Leave me a comment and tell me about it and what you've learned from it!

Got Angels?
Got Angels?
09.11.12.

hEy anGeLs on eArTh!

One of my super duper fav students sent me this picture from her webcam last month and it had the tagline,"Do you believe?"

"Of course!" I responded.

I must admit . . . I do believe in angels, . . . but not in devils, actually. And, I do believe in heaven, but not really in hell, actually.

Angels have showed up for me all my life, and I sometimes didn't even recognize them. They're sneaky like that, yo! Angels are stealthy, sometimes, like cats . . . and they can come in many disguises.

Some of us have angels on earth . . . for example, one of my healers told me years ago that my mom is one of my angels on earth (OMG! can you believe it? my MOM?). So, Mom is actually one of my angels (Mom, I don't think I've ever told you this, but isn't that amazing, and the truth?). Very cool. I'm glad my mom and I are finally fast friends. My healer told me that my mom would be instrumental in helping me transition my kids to two households (I was going through a divorce) and be a partner to me in helping them feel safe and loved during that time; and guess what? TRUE DAT! Thanks, Mom.

I also have an angel that walks with me daily. Her name is Alliyah, and she is a beautiful, shiny, loving spirit. My dad's spirit also dances with me often--he died in my twenties. I have his very gross and outside-the-box potty sense of humor that helps me be a really crazy and random teacher and human being in general (I can outburp all of you!).

I also have three little boy spirits that float above my shoulders. These are the little boy babies I lost through miscarriages between the birth of my two very blessed children, Max & Chloe. It's okay. They are still such a big part of me.

Anyway, I have an angel calendar from Doreen Virtue, and I flip it every day to get a message from my angels. Today, it said this:

Finding a feather, a coin, a stopped clock,
moved objects in your home, lights flickering,
the television set turning off or on independently,
or other visual oddities
lets you know that one of us is saying,
"Hello, I am here."

So, what I mean to say, is: PAY ATTENTION. To me, everything matters. When I find a penny, I take it as a sign that my angels are winking at me. When a clock stops, I take it as a sign that I need to slow down or take things at my own pace. When I overhear a conversation between strangers, I pay attention as if I am hearing a message from the Universe.

I feel so blessed by all my encounters. Can you?
Lots of LovE!

whO's oN yOuR tEaM?

As you embark out into the unknown on the
Journey of your Dreams,
choose wisely your traveling mates.
Your team and who you surround yourself with
is one of the most important decisions you can make
and a great influence on whether you will
complete the journey successfully.”
- Mastin Kipp
Wow!

I can't believe it! I finally made it--

Today I must proudly admit that I, Dana Lynne Curry, have officially become a soccer mom, and I don't even drive a minivan! My son, Max, joined the school soccer team for the very first time this year, which is so cool, and brave, and a bit scary . . . !

I was thrilled to be watching him at his first game on Saturday. It was an amazingly beautiful, sunny & cool morning, and as I stood on the sidelines watching Max hang with his friends & get out on the field and play his hardest, I thought about the importance of being a part of a team.

Most of us are on teams--and not only sports teams, but also at work, in our families, in clubs, and lots of others! . . . some teams are a choice and others are more by default. My mom used to say, "You are the company you keep." In other words, who we surround ourselves with has a super huge influence over us.

What does this all mean? It means we need to choose our people wisely. Mastin, on of my mentors from The Daily Love, has told me that I need to surround myself with people who have what I want.
  • Because I value peaceI commit to my own inner peace and surround myself with peaceful people
  • Because I value love, I commit to being loving and surround myself with loving people
  • Because I value growth, I commit to my own growth and surround myself with people who are also on a path of growth
  • Because I value trustI commit to trusting myself and surround myself with people I trust
  • Because I value gratitudeI commit to my own practices of gratitude and surround myself with grateful people
  • Because I value healthI commit to my own health and surround myself with healthy people
Who's on your team? Do you surround yourself with people who reflect what is important and dear to you? Or, do you maybe need to break up with some people who don't support the Journey of Your Dreams?

Hope you have a beautiful day!
Much love,
Dana

Dear You funfreePeeps!

When we are our truest selves, even if we are yucky and vulnerable, or if we shine our brightest light,...we draw people into our lives depending on how we feel about ourselves. So, we need to take very good care of us.

*mean people in your life? we're mean to ourselves.
*happy amazing friends? that's what we are.
*scooby-doo-liscious dancing-2-the-beat-guardians of love?

I know 4 me, when I am in the scooby-do place, I can love my friends the best. It depends on me. I can choose to be amazingly happy!

LoVe Ur LiFe!

deAr funfreeMepeeps!

This amazing reminder landed in my mailbox this morning from one of my new favorite tweeters, notsalmon.com---check her out! She's so super groovy & inspirational!

Her post reminds me how important it is to take beautiful care of me and to keep all the promises I make to myself.

So, here are some promises I would like to keep to ME!

  1. Be present when I am with my children.
  2. Hug my kids and tell them how much I love them.
  3. Get enough sleep.
  4. Be a good teacher!
  5. Hug my students and tell them how much I love them (WARNING!--POLITICALLY INCORRECT...oh well...)
This is kind of random, but I also promise myself that I will put lotion on my skin every day, look into the sun and counting my blessings, and thank God for my beautiful (and imperfect) life!

I am learning from everything!
Love you so much!

Dear Fun & Free Peeps!

Can you believe this picture?
Can you understand that you were born a MirAcLe . . . and on PurPoSe?

There is no One like y0u on the planet or in the UniVerse, so why can't you let your amazing light shine? You are an amazing and miraculous being?!

My daughter has diabetes and she is a miracle (I had three miscarriages between Max and Choe . . . miracle? AbSoLuTeLy!). And she loves math and plays guitar (and is super funny!).

My son has asthma and he is also a miracle and he plays bass and clarinet (and he makes me laugh until I pee!).

I am a divorced mom who used to have an eating disorder and I am sometimes sad and stressed out, and I randomly dance and sing (and laugh with my kids and have family Wii bowling!).  Miraculous? YES SIRREE!

I am figuring out that I don't have to work so hard anymore. I just need to be the me that I am, and that is a gift enough for my kids, my partner, my students, and my friends. It's the best I can do . . . ON PURPOSE.

everything is a miracle. . . even the crappy stuff!

My son told me today that I see everything as a smile. . . and he sounded a bit sarcastic. I asked him what he meant and he told me, "Mom, you always look at the positive side of everything." And it's true. I do.

You will have an amazing day! I heart you!

gIvE of yoU(rself)!

Give yourself entirely to those around you.
Be generous with your blessings.
A kind gesture can reach a wound that only
compassion can heal.
 ~Steve Maraboli

DeaAr FuN & FrEe PeePsiEs!

This post is inspired by the Purpose Fairy--another blog I receive every week! Today, she wrote the following:
There are so many things we can all offer to those around us and believe it or not many of these things are free. If you have material things you would like to give away to those who have less than you do, give it, and if you feel like you don’t have any material possession to offer, give them your time, your knowledge, your love and support and many of the things you have that cost you nothing but they value a lot.
JOY OF GIVING
A woman who was traveling alone in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream.
The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, the woman opened her bag to share her food.
The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation.
The traveler left, rejoicing in his great fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.
But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the woman.
“I’ve been thinking,” he said, “I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.”
The woman smiled, “The joy of giving!”

What do you have to give? I personally want to make a commitment to give to every person I encounter . . . that can be as simple as a smile!

What can you give?

Huggies!
